Press Release
iPort makes sharing iPod® metadata
more than just a remote possibility.
AMX and Crestron Software Modules Now Available for iPort Music Systems
INDIANAPOLIS, September 9, 2005 iPort, maker
of the first in-wall iPod® music system, announces the development
of software modules that allow for complete iPod control with
two leading control systems, AMX and Crestron®. Allowing
users with RS-232 enabled iPorts to display and manage the iPods
metadata (song, artist, album, playlist, etc.) on any compatible
touchscreen, the modules will be available at no charge to authorized
iPort dealers through the companys web site.
With these modules, iPort takes another major step forward
as the leader in multi-room iPod integration, said Peter
Brown, iPorts Vice President of Sales and Marketing. AMX
and Crestron are just the beginning. iPort is committed to standard
protocols so our products can interface with the widest assortment
of control systems. Well develop modules with other control
companies in the very near future.
According to Brown, having two-way RS-232 control gives the
user has the same experience they would have if they were looking
at their iPod, only they can control the iPod from anywhere
in the house without needing to leave their favorite listening
chair.
All iPort music system models that are enabled for two-way communications
work with these new modules. Installers can customize the modules
to suit specific client needs and preferences.
